Mud slide kills one

BANGALORE: A construction labourer was killed in mud slide while working on foundation of a building near Marathalli in HAL police station limits on Sunday. The police have arrested the safety-in-charge of the construction works. The deceased Gopi (18), was a native of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.According to the police, N V Constructions, a city based constructions company, was carrying out foundation works for a commercial complex.Reportedly, labourers were working on 20-feet deep land when the incident occurred. A crack in the sidewall resulted in mud slide and a heap of mud fell on labourers. About 7-8 labourers allegedly were stuck in the mud slide.However, by the time fire personnel reached the spot, all the labourers except Gopi had managed to escape. Although the staff tried to rescue Gopi, it was too late, the police added.His body was shifted to Bowring Hospital mortuary for autopsy. Meanwhile, the HAL police arrested Srinivas, who was the safety-incharge of the construction works. Cases have also been registered against the owner of N V Constructions and the constructions engineer. Further investigations are on.
