Mumbai: The Mumbai sessions court has deferred the Keenan-Reuben murder case verdict to May 5. The court was likely to pronounce its verdict in the sensational case on May 2.
Keenan's Father Valerian Santos, said, "We want stern action against the accused so that they should also realised the pain of losing a child."
On October 20, 2011, Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandez were stabbed outside Amboli Bar and Kitchen in Mumbai’s suburb of Andheri West when they confronted with a group of men who tried to molest their female friends.
While Keenan died on the same day, Reuben was admitted to a hospital where he died 10 days later. The incident sparked mass outrage and then the Maharashtra government ordered a high level probe.
The state government had in 2012 shifted the case to a fast-track court, but the case still dragged on for 4 years.
The police arrested four accused identified as Jitendra Rana, Sunil Bodh, Satish Dulhaj and Dipak Tival. The fast track court at Sewri had framed charges against the accused for murder, conspiracy and molestation.
