CHENNAI: Dr Rajah Sir M A Muthiah Chettiar's 107th birth anniversary will be celebrated at the Rani Seethai Hall on August 5.
The Dr Rajah Sir Muthiah Chettiar Birthday Commemoration Award, which includes a cash award of `1 lakh, will be presented to eminent Tamil scholar Dr S Sathiyaseelan. The Trust honours a Tamil scholar every year. This year, a threemember panel comprising P R Gokulakrishnan, S Ratnavel Pandian and Ponnambala Adigalar selected the former principal of Urumu Dhanalakshmi College for the award. President of the trust M A M R Muthiah will introduce the recipient of the award and read the citation. Dr Sirkazhi G Sivachidambaram will render a commemoration song at the beginning of the function. Madras High Court Judge S Nagamuthu will preside over the function and present the award. Sivaganesan, grandson of Kavimani Desiga Vinayagam Pillai, will deliver the anniversary address. ProChancellor of Annamalai University and patron of the trust, Dr M A M Ramaswamy, will deliver the welcome address.
