New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has summoned senior level officers of National Ganga Mission to report what has actually been done to clean the river Ganga and what has been done with the millions of rupees which have been given to them.

They have been ordered to appear on Friday when some harsh directions could be issued to the concerned officials. The NGT has observed that tanneries, sugar mills and other polluting industries be shifted to the dedicated area.

The NGT has also asked for report on whether discharge from tanneries has reduced after treatment plants put in 2014.

Commenting on the most polluted Hindon river, a tributary of river Yamuna, the NGT has ordered that the polluted foam reaching road from river at Ghaziabad should be prevented and cleaned up.

The NGT has also asked Environment Secretary to Uttar Pradesh government to hold a meeting and fix responsibility of which officers allowed pollution to rise.
