New Delhi: After being marginalised in Congress over the Iraq Oil-for-Food scam, former external affairs minister Natwar Singh is now contemplating writing a book to expose those who allegedly hatched a conspiracy to frame him.

The book, to be titled Against Volcker, will "try and remove the taint from his name", sources said.

Singh considers himself "innocent and above board" and believes that he will be able to prove his innocence sooner than later, the sources added.

Singh has held ministerial posts for seven years and says his wealth was a result of 75 years of hard work and was not accumulated during seven years of being in politics.

The former diplomat is also "aggrieved" that the Justice R S Pathak Inquiry Authority was set up to inquire his role in the scam and considers the six-month tenure of the Inquiry Authority equal to six years.

He also calls intolerable the three-month extension given to the panel.

The former minister says the nine months of inquiry has been the "worst time of his life" and that is why he wants to document his 'trauma' in a book.

The Pathak Inquiry Commission was set up to investigate the allegations of kickbacks received by an Indian minister and Congress in the UN Oil-For-Food Programme.

The controversy broke out after the report of the committee headed by Paul Volcker, former Chairman of the United States Federal Reserve.
