The symbolic walk sent out a message of giving equal opportunities to the disabled.

New Delhi: A number of specially-abled people gathered at India Gate in the capital to participate in the NCPEDP-Veer Walk to Freedom on World Disability Day in the true spirit of Veer campaign.

The symbolic walk sent out a message of giving equal opportunities to the disabled. It also envisaged, if given the right skill-sets, they also can study, work and compete like the rest.

The event was filled with festivities and special performances. It also included sign language training for the participants and performance of the National Anthem in sign language.

Speaking to CNN-IBN, Javed Abidi, Honorary Director, NCPEDP, said that he wants to change the way people think about the specially-abled.

Veer, in its second season this year, is the joint initiative of CNN-IBN, Thums Up, Being Human and American India Foundation.
