HYDERABAD: The advance reservation period for booking railway tickets under the Tatkal scheme has been reduced from two days to one day, excluding the day of journey from the train originating day.
The maximum number of passengers allowed on each ticket will be four instead of six. No refund will be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal ticket. Refund will be granted only to waitlisted passengers (at the time of cancellation). No duplicate tickets shall be issued in case of loss of a Tatkal ticket. Tatkal tickets will now be issued only upon production of self attested copy of one of the following photoidentity proofs of any one or more of the travelling passengers.

Voter photoidentity card issued by the Election Commission, passport, PAN card issued by income tax department, driving licence issued by the Road transport Authority, photoidentity card issued by central/state governments or student identity card with photograph issued by recognised school/college, nationalised bank's passbook with photograph, credit card issued by a bank with laminated photograph. The passengers should travel with the original ID proof indicated on the ticket. If the passenger, whose ID indicated on the ticket is not travelling, then all passengers will be treated as travelling without ticket and charged accordingly.

Tatkal tickets will be issued only for journey starting on November 21 (same day) and 22 was already opened for booking on November 20 as per the old scheme, subject to availability. On November 22, Tatkal tickets will be issued only for journey starting on November 22 (same day) and November 23.
