HYDERABAD: Social welfare minister Pithani Satyanarayana has disputed bureaucrats’ contention that they are being made scapegoats regarding issue of GOs. Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday, he said all files are cleared by either the minister concerned or the chief minister and their signatures will be there on note-files. The bureaucrats then only issue GOs. This is a normal practice. If any minister does not sign a note file but brings pressure on the IAS officer concerned to issue a GO and if the latter yields, then it is his mistake, Satyanarayana said.In respect of CBI inquiry into EMAAR scam, illegal mining of iron ore and YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s assets, it was not proper on the part of officials to say that the CBI sleuths were only verifying the signatures on GOs. “They are very much examining the note files as well,” he said. The minister said the image of bureaucrats as well as politicians had come down of late and underlined the need for initiating stern measures to end corruption.
