KOCHI: The Ernakulam District Congress Committee (DCC) said there was no reason for not giving the Piravom seat to the Kerala Congress (Jacob) and noted that it was part of coalition ethics.“In coalition politics, the seat that has been given to a party would be retained by it even if by-elections are held,” DCC president V J Paulose said. “There was no reason for not giving the Piravom seat to the Kerala congress faction as the seat had been held by them,” he said. However, Paulose said the Congress would claim the seat if the KC(J) did not come forward. Though Piravom seat belongs to the Jacob faction of the Kerala Congress, there were rumours that the Congress would claim the seat as the Jacob faction had weakened after the death of its leader T M Jacob. The Congress, which has a slender majority, have to retain the seat for sure.
