TIRUCHY:The DMK which accused the Election Commission of partisanship during the 2011 Assembly elections on Friday said it would approach the EC if the ruling party violated the norms.DMK treasurer MK Stalin, who spoke to the media, expressed the hope that the Election Commission would conduct a free and fair poll and said ‘If we feel that the ruling party violates norms, we will take it to the notice of the Election Commission’, he added.He asserted that the party would approach the people with confidence, while speaking to the media, after filing nomination papers for Nehru, who is in Cuddalore prison with the Returning Officer G Sampath here on Friday.Accusing the State government of foisting cases against former ministers and party functionaries, he said this would be major poll plank of the DMK.Stalin was accompanied by former minister N Selvaraj and former public procecutor Bhaskar.Since the candidate could not come personally, the document of pledge was handed over to the advocate Bhaskar to be signed by Nehru.The Returning Officer who received the nomination papers and made queries about the particulars regarding the name, spelling and other details.He also asked Nehru’s representatives to be present on the day of scrutiny. Ex-MLA, KN Sekaran filed as the dummy candidate.
