PARADIP: Hundreds of NREGS job card holders of Barmunduli panchayat of Balikuda block staged an agitation here on Thursday, demanding immediate payment of their dues.Around 400 people of the panchayat were selected for job cards under the employment scheme and engaged in construction of a road from Bhagalpur to Jainla of Barmundili panchayat.Though the work was completed as per the schedule, they have not received their dues as yet.Approaching the local sarpanch and the BDO has yielded little result, the agitators alleged.Balikuda BDO Lagnajit Rout said sarpanch of the panchayat allotted work to the MGNREGS beneficiaries without taking permission from the authorities concerned. As a result, there has been a delay in payment of the wages.The agitators were pacified after he assured them to look into their demand.
