Nursery Admissions in Delhi are all set to begin next week on 27th December 2017 and will carry on till 17th January 2018. There are approximately 1700 Private and Government schools in Delhi and 75% seats will be allotted on the basis of point system and other criteria set by the schools while 25% seats will be allotted centrally by the government to Economically Weaker Section and Disadvantaged Category candidates.
Selection Process:
The selection of candidates for Nursery admissions in Delhi will be based on draw of lots. Schools are required to draw the slips in the presence of parents and the same needs to be recorded for any future reference.
Application Process:
Parents are not required to purchase prospectus of the school they are applying for. They need to pay an admission registration fee of ₹25 along with copy of ration card, smart card, voter id card, electricity/water/telephone bill, domicile certificate, passport or Aadhaar Card.

Criteria for Delhi Nursery Admissions Process:
The minimum age for a child to be considered for nursery admission is 3 years, for KG is 4 years and for Class I is 5 years as on 31st March 2018.
Schools are required to release the admission criteria and point system for Nursery admissions on 26th December 2017, one day before the admission process window opens. The Delhi government has asked the schools to not include any of the 62 abolished criterion including:
1. Educational qualification of parents
2. Non-smoking parents
3. Permanent residency of Delhi
4. Financial status of parents
5. Proficiency of parents or ward in extra co-curricular activities
6. Delhi government has also currently put a hold on setting the upper age limit to 4 years
Also, the Delhi High Court had rejected Delhi government’s proposed single criterion of Neighborhood, according to which the private schools built on government land need to prioritize admissions of students living within 1km radius of the school, followed by students living in 3km radius. The Delhi High Court stated, “a student's educational fate can't be relegated to only his/her position on a map”
