Pakistan accuses India of violating ceasefire at LoC
The Pakistan army on Saturday opened 'unprovoked' firing on the Indian army positions in the Shah Pur Kerni area of Poonch sector, an Army officer said.

Poonch: Pakistan has hit back at India and accused it of violating ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan Armed Forces PRO Asim Bajwa on Saturday accused India of violating ceasefire and accusing them unnecessarily. He tweeted, "Indians fire across LoC at Nezapir again. Pattern shows they resort to such violations every festive occasion. Ironic they violate & also accuse."

The Pakistan army on Saturday opened 'unprovoked' firing on the Indian army positions in the Shah Pur Kerni area of Poonch sector, an Army officer said.

He said that the Pakistan army resorted to 'unprovoked firing' on the Indian positions this afternoon at around 1:50 pm and the intermittent firing was going on when the reports last came in.

The officer said that the Indian side has effectively retaliated to the firing from across the border.

Saturday's ceasefire violation is the second such violations on the Line of Control in the past 12 hours.

Pakistan army had resorted to 'unprovoked' firing on the Indian positions in the Naushera sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on late Friday night. No casualty or damage was reported.

Earlier in the day, the traditional exchange of sweets between the Indian and Pakistani forces at the Attari-Wagah border on Eid had been called off due to after repeated incidents of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control.

In 2014, too, no sweets were exchanged between the two countries but the tradition was resumed in March 2015. However, the tradition was not followed by the security forces again.
