New Delhi: In a major revelation in the Udhampur terror attack, Pakistani terrorist Usman Khan alias Mohammed Naved, who was captured alive, started from Halan in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir on May 27 with three others. They entered India by cutting fencing along the Line of Control (LoC) and reached Kupwara on June 2.
Usman was in constant touch with Abu Dujana, Lashkar-e-Toiba's number 2 in Srinagar. On June 7, they walked from Kupwara to Baba Reshi in Baramulla and were received by Ubaid, a Pakistani terrorist of the LeT.
On June 9, they left for Chursoo and stayed with a local module for four days. Here the 20-year-old Usman seperated from the group in Chursoo.
He went to Khrew in Pulwama and spent 35 days at a Lashkar hideout. Then he left for Kakapora and stayed there for six days but on two different locations.
From Kakapora, Usman was sent to Khudwani in Kulgam. In Khudwani, Usman met Qasim who had escaped from security forces and he also met Noman alias Nomi.
On July 23, Usman left for Pulwama along with Noman from where they left for Ramban on August 4. They stayed in a place called Tamatar Mode.
On Ausgust 5, Usman and Noman left for Udhampur in a truck and reached the Jammu and Kashmir Highway.
On Wednesday morning, Usman and Noman ambushed a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy in Narsoo in Udhampur, killing two soldiers and injuring eight others. In the ensuing gunbattle, Noman was killed while Usman fled into the dense forests after taking three people hostage.
Usman was surrounded by a team of BSF and Army soldiers and a brief gunbattle followed after which he was captured when his hostages overpowered him.
