VADAKARA: CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the religious heads are interfering intentionally in politics in the state. They also behave as if it was they who had appointed some ministers in the state, he alleged.Delivering the inaugural address at the seminar ‘Vagbhadananda Gurudeva and Kerala Renaissance’ at Onchiyam, near Vadakara on Sunday as part of the upcoming 20th CPM Party Congress, he alleged that demigods have found place in the ‘pooja rooms’ of the houses in the state. “It was quite unfortunate that the rise of new demons have taken place in the land of Sree Narayana Guru who said idols were not necessary for worship,” he added.Referring to the holy hair controversy, Pinarayi said: “Every hair would catch fire if set on fire but now some one says that hair would not be burned”. The matter of the holy hair of Prophet Mohammed would be discussed seriously, he added.The non-politicisation of society and the denial of history are the main agendas of the Right, said Pinarayi.Their efforts are paving way for the return of the superstitions in the state, he alleged.The Communist movement in Kerala emerged in a society enlightened by the Renaissance initiated by leaders like Sree Narayana Guru, Swami Vagbhadananda, Chattambi Swamikal and Sahodaran Ayyappan. Swami Vagbhadananda had contributed much to strengthen the Renaissance movement in North Malabar.Pinarayi Vijayan released the book ‘Vagbhadananda Guru-The Strength of Renaissance’ authored by K K N Kurup and M S Nair by handing over the first copy to C K Nanu MLA. Reception Committee chairman Paleri Rameshan presided over the meeting. CPM district secretary T P Ramakrishnan honoured the leaders and workers of the‘Aathma Vidya Sangham’. Swami Rithambarananda of Sivagiri Mutt and CPM Onchiyak Area Committee Secretary C H Asokan spoke.
