Police didn't beat journalist, only stopped him, says J&K minister
A senior editor with a local newspaper claimed that he was beaten up by police officers escorting Lone after he objected to them misbehaving with his wife.

Srinagar: A day after a Jammu and Kashmir journalist accused state Agriculture Minister Ghulam Nabi Lone's police officers of beating him up, the minister broke his silence on Tuesday. A defiant lone defended his guards by saying they did not thrash him and claimed that they merely stopped the journalist.

Lone said that he was ready to apologise if that settles the matter.

Lone said, "I am ready to face the law. My guards did not beat up the journalist, they only stopped him. I am ready to apologise if that settles the matter. I didn't see the journalist, why should I have stopped the cops?"

Javaid Malik, a senior editor with a local newspaper, claimed that he was beaten up by police officers escorting Lone after he objected to them misbehaving with his wife.

A case has been filed into the incident.
