KORAPUT: The Maoists killed a tribal man, suspecting him to be a police informer, at Kalam-Jhadipadar square under Bijaghati panchayat in Koraput on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Sapura Sirika of Baliguda Village. The incident took place when Sirika was returning after leaving his son at a school in Damanjodi. The body of Sirika was found on Sunday morning. It is learnt that the Maoists slit the throat of the man and left a letter, written in Telugu, near his body.In the letter, the Maoists belonging to Srikaulam-Koraput divisional committee stated that the police had killed one of their leaders in an encounter in Turla forest in December last basing on the information given by Sapura.In September last, Sapura’s younger brother Puri Sirika was also killed by the Maoists near Damanjodi.
