There seems to be end to the troubles for Art of Living, the organisers of three-day World Culture Festival in the national capital.
According to sources, the Delhi Police has asked the organisers to deploy more volunteers at the pontoon bridges built for the event. This comes even as only two out of the seven pontoon bridges are in place.
The Delhi Police had raised the concerns earlier as well.
A letter was sent by the DCP to the organisers on Wednesday, asking the organisers to provide them the structural stability certificate. The letter also asked the organisers to put some volunteers on the bridge if they were unable to put wire meshing or barricade the edges.
Two companies of ITBP and CRPF have also been deployed for the event.
This comes even as the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday asked the Art of Living foundation to pay up a fine of Rs 5 crore as environment compensation.
Notwithstanding the raging row over environmental damage due to the 3-day festival, National Green Tribunal gave its go ahead to the event to be held on the Yamuna floodplains from March 11, expressing its helplessness in banning it because of "fait accompli".
Reacting to the decision of the NGT, the Art of Living foundation said it would challenge the order.
The organisation's chief Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also tweeted that AOL was not "satisfied" with the verdict of the NGT and would appeal against it. He urged political parties not to "politicise" the event.
The event is slated to attract 3.5 million people from around the world and those in attendance include Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to attend the grand event.
