KOCHI: District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth has said the second phase of this year’s Pulse Polio Immunisation programme will be held from 8 am to 5 pm here on Sunday. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob will inaugurate the programme at the Primary Health Centre, Keechery, on Sunday.Pareeth said the first phase of the pulse polio programme concluded on February 10. “As many as 98.79 per cent of children has been benefited from the first phase. The target was to distribute medicines to 2,41,068 children below five years, and we distributed medicines to 2,38,155 children,” Pareeth said.“As many as 1,990 booths have been installed to distribute the medicines, 3,988 volunteers and 236 supervisors have been specially trained for the purpose. Several booths have been arranged at government hospitals, primary health centres, anganwadis, railway stations (South, North and Aluva), KSRTC bus station, boat jetty and airport.
