BANGALORE:  Chhattisgarh has started supplying 200 MW of power to Karnataka from Saturday night. This came through following the appeal made by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to his Chhattisgarh counterpart Raman Singh in New Delhi. According to official sources, Sadananda Gowda, who is in New Delhi to take part in the BJP national executive meeting, met Raman Singh and explained the precarious power position in Karnataka following the non-supply of coal due to stoppage of trains by Telengana activists. “In a laudable gesture, Singh called his state chief secretary and instructed telephonically to make arrangements to supply 200 MW of power from Saturday night itself. Sadananda Gowda, in turn, called Chief Secretary S V Ranganath and told him about the development. The KPTCL too was directed to receive the power and ensure equitable distribution and supply,” sources explained. When asked about the cost of the power, sources said, “It is yet to be worked out. We are facing an emergency-like situation. Our priority is to give electricity to the people of the state.”
