Proposal for more Universities

As many as 10 proposals by private institutions have been submitted to the Higher Education Department, seeking permission to start private universities in the state. The list includes universities from Delhi and Kolkata too.

But, the clause of reserving 50 per cent seats in these universities for Karnataka students has not gone down well with these institutions.

Siddaiah, Principal Secretary of Higher Education Department, said, the previous Cabinet meeting proposals by six private universities was cleared. “These are pending before the Legislature for approval,” he said. 

The proposed private universities: MS Ramaiah Group of Institutions, Jain University, Arks University, Adi Chunchanagiri Group, Devaraj Urs University, Daya­nanda Sagar Institutions, PES Group of Institutions, Sharanabasappa Education Society, Techno India Private University and Rai Technological University.
