Puducherry: The Puducherry government has ordered a Crime Branch-CID probe into the recent alleged abduction and rape of a minor girl by two persons, including a bus conductor known to her. District Collector in-charge S Sundaravadivelou said the case, investigated by local police, would be transferred to the CB-CID.
Muthu, the conductor, and an engineering student, his accomplice, have already been arrested on the charge of abducting and raping the 17-year-old girl on January 1. The incident comes even as national outrage over the gangrape of a 23-year-old Delhi girl has triggered protests by students organisations, political parties and women volunteers of various outfits in Puducherry.
Police said Muthu, the conductor, had approached the minor when she was waiting for bus stating that her mother had met with an accident and that she wanted to see her. Reposing faith in his words, the girl went along with him. After making her unconscious by some means while travelling in the bus, he and his accomplice abducted her to a place in neighbouring Villupuram where the duo raped her, police said.
