BANGALORE: Members of Kannada Janapara Vedike are demanding the use of Kannada text in non-Kannada film hoardings.Speaking to Sunday Express, Vedike’s State President Sheik Asif Sharief said that in Karnataka, many non-Kannada films run throughout the state and make profit. But none of the flexes or hoardings of the non-Kannada cinemas have Kannada text on them. “We are demanding that the name of the film, casting and other details should also be in Kannada,” he demanded.Sharief further said that they have been protesting for the past eight days to include Kanada text in all film hoardings. “Noted poet Nisar Ahmed told us that Karnataka Film Chambers had issued an order some 10 years ago to include Kannada in non-Kannada cinema hoardings.” he added. But not many are following this order. “Now after our request, film chamber has agreed to send this message to all the non-Kannada film producers. If this is not implemented , w e will stage protest again,” he warned.
