New Delhi: Ramdev will address a seminar organised by a Muslim organisation in the capital on Saturday, a move seen as an attempt by the yoga guru to change his pro-Hindutva image.
The yoga guru will inaugurate the conference on 'Basic Issues' organised by All India United Muslim Morcha led by former Parliamentarian Ilyas Azmi at India Islamic Cultural Centre.
Ramdev's spokesperson said the conference is focused on issues of bringing back black money, effective and strong Jan Lokpal Bill, implementation of Citizen Charter and Article 341 besides other issues.
After a meeting at Deoband, the spokesperson said, this is Ramdev's major interaction with Muslim community on a road map to collaborate with nationalist forces and organisations to build a strong India which is a cultural and economic superpower.
Ramdev's move assumes significance as a section of Team Anna is opposed to his association with Anna Hazare as he is known to be a Hindutva supporter.
Team Anna had expressed its unhappiness at the yoga guru's "one-up manship".
Team Anna had distanced itself from Ramdev after the presence of Hindutva leaders at his protest venue in June last year triggered a controversy.
After an on-and-off relationship for about a year, Hazare had announced last month that Team Anna and Ramdev will support each other and participate in each other's agitations against corruption.
