Warangal: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has said the Centre should "immediately" come out with a "clear view" on Telangana and not have any objections in granting separate statehood to the region.
"Pure Telangana me naye Bharat ke nirman ke saath saath ek naye Telangana ke nirman ki awaz uth rahi hain (A voice for creation of Telangana besides new India is getting louder in the region)," Ramdev said at a Yoga camp in Andhra Pradesh.
He said government should immediately take a clear decision on the issue, adding that Centre should not have any objections for carving out Telangana as it was an independent state earlier.
"I feel that in the name of Telangana there should not be any more violence and struggle in society," he said.
Expressed concern over rising corruption and the issue of black money in the country, Ramdev said he favoured smaller states for the sake of administrative convenience and faster development.
Haridwar-based Baba Ramdev, who is planning to float a political party, had said in Visakhapatnam last week that he would finalise the name of the party after June this year.
He has been touring Andhra Pradesh this month as part of his Yoga camps.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had last month said his government would abide by the decision of the Centre on the Telangana issue.
