BANGALORE: Karnataka Lok Ayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde, who has prepared a damning indictment of chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and others in the mining scam, said on Saturday that he won’t be presenting his report to governor H R Bhardwaj but to the Supreme Court. He said he had no hope that the government will act on his findings, and pinned his hopes on the Supreme Court.The governor has signalled that he is waiting for the report to the submitted to him before taking action against the chief minister, and the BJP leadership has been working on strategies to deal with the situation, but demands for removal of Yeddyurappa have been made within the party.BJP vice-president Shanta Kumar dashed off a letter to party president Nitin Gadkari and senior leader L K Advani demanding Yeddyurappa be removed immediately since the BJP’s image in the country was getting tarnished.Hegde, who will demit office on Aug. 2, said he wants to submit his report Monday or Tuesday but indicated that there may be a delay.“The government will not act on it (the report)”, Hegde said. “My only hope is Supreme Court,” he said.But Hegde said it was not mandatory for the government to accept the report, which has raised a political storm after the leaked document indicted Yeddyurappa for causing a loss of `1,800 crore to the state exchequer due to illegal mining.
