THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: What would make the Chief Minister’s mass contact programme in the city on Thursday different from that held in Kozhikode would be the live webcasting of the function. The district administration has initiated steps for the live streaming of the event, which could be watched on the official website of the State Government. Till late on Wednesday evening, the district administration has received 7,000 complaints from the public and according to officials, the number could go up to 10,000 on Thursday. The grievance redressal meet would start at 8.30 am at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium and would go on until the last complaint is disposed of. The stadium has been decked up for the event, with seating arrangements for 5,000 people on the ground and seats for 50 people on the dais. The officials of all major departments would be present, while many departments and projects like the SSA, NRHM and other agencies would put up stalls to present their achievements. As many as 50 counters would be opened by various departments to handle the complaints. The decisions on the complaints received earlier and which have already been disposed of would be announced first. Complaints  received on the spot would be scrutinised by the team with the Chief Minister. Various bills, scholarships, subsidies, title deeds and ration cards would be distributed at the function. Complaints regarding the City Corporation would also be received at the programme. Around 1,000 officials have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the programme. ‘’More than a complaint redressal platform, we have made arrangements to make it a bigger event by roping in the support of all departments,’’ said District Collector M Nandakumar. Issues related to infrastructure development, water supply, sea erosion in the coastal areas and many others plaguing the city would come up at the mass contact programme. Arrangements have been made to distribute 5,000 food kits and drinking water bottles at the venue.  Steps have been taken to avoid any law and order, transport or other problems that could give hardships to the people arriving for the function, district administration officials said.
