NEDUMKANDAM: To educate Kudumbashree workers in Pampadumpara and Nedumkandam panchayats about the nuances of financing and entrepreneurship, two seminars under the auspices of MES College, Nedumkandam, were held on the college premises on Tuesday. P C Santhosh Babu, head of the Department of Commerce, said that the Kudumbashree workers could work wonders if they learnt the basics of financing and entrepreneurship. Santosh Babu, who was the resource person, said that the functioning of Kudumbashree units was confined to microfinancing. “They also face problems in accounting of finance of the units. The seminar would help them take the knowledge out of the classroom and educate others,” he said. The programme was held as part of the community extension programme of the Department of Commerce. The participants of the seminar found it extremely useful. They opined that the knowledge they gathered from the seminar would help the Kudumbashree units to start new business enterprises. The seminar was inaugurated in Pampadumpara by panchayat president S Sasikumar and in Nedumkanadam by panchayat president Syamala Viswanathan. The college has offered follow-up for the future plans of the Kudumbashree units in any enterprising ventures. The inaugural session was presided over by principal A M Rasheed.
