In a suspected case of honour killing, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her brother, who was opposed her love affair, police said on Wednesday.
Victim Saima was in love with a youth from the same village but her family was opposed to their relationship. Following heated arguments on Tuesday, her brother Razakhan(23) shot her dead at Gangeru village in Shamli district, they said.
Later, victim's body was buried in a graveyard without informing the police. Police rushed to the spot and exhumed the body from the grave on the permission of district magistrate, they added.
The body has been sent for postmortem, police said, adding that a case has been registered against the absconding accused under various sections of the IPC.
