Mumbai: A local court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of actor Shiney Ahuja, accused of raping his maid, till July 30.
Though the defamed actor’s lawyer Shrikant Shivade put his argument forward seeking bail, the court gave in to the prosecution’s demand of extending the judicial custody as the police is still probing into the case.
This is the third extension of judicial custody for Bollywood actor, who has been lodged at Arthur Road jail, even as the sessions court had earlier turned down his bail plea on the grounds that he might influence the independent witnesses.
The DNA tests conducted on Shiney has confirmed sexual intercourse between the two with the actor claiming that it was consensual.
Shiney has been charged under the IPC Section 376 for raping his 17-year-old maid on June 14 at his Oshiwara residence.
