Rajkot: A court in Amreli on Tuesday issued show cause notices to BJP state President Vaju Vala and 13 others on a petition filed by members of the dissident group of the party led by Keshubhai Patel.
Civil court judge A Gosai has directed Vala, former minister Kiritsinh Rana, Amreli district unit President Dinesh Popat and 11 other party workers to remain present in the court on October 5 with their reply.
The petition filed by party workers belonging to dissident group challanges appointments of office bearers of party's Amreli district unit ten days ago.
The petition alleges that the elections of 13 taluka presidents of BJP was done without following proper election procedure laid down by the party, BJP Amreli unit leader Kashyap Joshi said.
The supporters of former chief minister Keshubhai Patel challenged the election after they were allegedly neglected by Modi camp, sources in the party said.
It is also learnt that some of the leaders of the Patel group have approached party's central leadership to sort out the issues of local party elections.
