Nedumbassery: In major breakthrough in the effort of the Madhya Pradesh Police to nab Syed Salaudeen Salar, the former regional commander of SIMI, a banned organisation, and an absconding accused in anti-national activities since 13 years, the Police Superintendent of Madhya Pradesh Rajesh Gupta and his team with the assistance of Kerala Police led by Crime Detachment Deputy SP K V Vijayan took him into custody when he arrived at Kochi International Airport here from Dubai by Emirates Flight EK 530 on Saturday morning.Salar arrived at Kochi Airport accompanied by a woman claimed to be his distant relative and her son. Acting on a clue that the accused was returning to India with emergency certificate, the MP Police with the help of their counterparts in Kerala intercepted him at the airport.After initial questioning in the airport, accused Salaudeen Salar has been arrested by the Sub Inspector of Mahakkal Police Station in MP. The woman and the boy who accompanied him were allowed to leave. Salar was immediately shifted to Aluva accompanied by a strong contingent of armedpolice commandos and produced before Aluva Judicial First Class Magistrate.Salar had his face covered with a monkey-cap when he was brought to the court.The MP Police requested the Magistrate for issuing a Transit Warrant. Magistrate P S Joseph asked the accused to take off the face cover. Confirming his identity, the Magistrate asked whether the police had tortured him. He replied negatively. The Magistrate directed the MP Police to allow the accused to contact his parents over phone. The Magistrate issued the Transit Warrant for three days and directed the MP Police to produce him before Ujjain Judicial First Class Magistrate in MP on or before Monday.
