RAMANATHAPURAM: Sri Lankan navy had damaged the fishing gear in many Indian boats at mid sea off Rameswaram on Tuesday.A fleet of 638 mechanised boats had set out to sea on Monday. While they were casting their nets, Lankan navy vessels surrounded the Indian boats near Katchativu and chased the fishermen from the area. The navy men had then damaged the nets and other fishing gear in more than 10 boats with sharp weapons. The fisher rushed ashore with a poor catch. However, they had not lodged complaint with fisheries department till Tuesday evening.
