Thiruvananthapuram: The Solar Scam accused Biju Radhakrishnan is found guilty of murdering his wife Reshmi. His mother Rajammal, was found guilty of dowry harassment under section 498 (A) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The judgement was pronounced by the Kollam Principal district and sessions court Judge Ashok Menon. The prosecution case was that Biju Smothered Reshmi to death after forcefully making her drink liquor on February 3, 2006 at his house in Kottarakara.
The couple's child who was three and a half year old then testified in court that he saw his father forcefully making his mother drink a brown liquid. The quantum of sentence will be announced on January 25. Special public prosecutor G Mohankumar said that Biju was also found guilty of destruction of evidence.
Biju and his mother Rajammal brought Reshmi to the Taluk Hospital, Kottarakara on February 4. She was declared brought dead and on intimation that a post-mortem should be conducted they absconded.
Biju was later arrested in 2010, by the Thiruvanthapuram Medical College police in Connecting with a cheating case. He was also charged in connection with this case for dowry harassment. He later jumped bail and was arrested on June 17, 2013.
