The Indo-American pair next play Karol Beck of Slovakia and Dudi Sela of Israel, who took out second seeds Dustin Brown of Germany and Rogier Wassen of the Netherlands 6-3, 7-5.
Somdev also reached the quarterfinals in the singles.
