At a high-level meeting of officials held in Thiruvananthapuram, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had told mobility hub officials to submit a detailed proposal to the Railway Board for setting up a railway station halt at the hub.Mobility hub managing director M Beena said the station would benefit passengers in the  Ernakulam-Kottayam region. However, it is up to the Railways to give the final nod for the project to become a reality. “There is a proposal to set up a metro rail station at the hub. With all these facilities, there are possibilities to raise the hub to international standards. The state government will also present the proposal to the Railway Ministry and other agencies involved in the project,” Beena said.In the last State Budget the government has decided to allocate Rs 5 crore for the Mobility Hub. She also said that the society requires Rs 52 crore to carry out development activities in the next three years.Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has also directed the hub officials to give a primary report on how many city buses of the KSRTC can function from the hub.Also, discussions were held on the feasibility of expanding the hub in the Ernakulam-Kottayam route with an estimated Rs 12 crore.
