The Samajwadi Party on Saturday lashed out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for calling party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav a 'corrupt' leader who should not be allowed to enter parliament.

Reacting to Friday's statement by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief, where he said the Samajwadi Party supremo was among several corrupt politicians in India, party spokesman and Prisons Minister Rajendra Chowdhary said such words can only be spoken by a street-level politician.

'Such words for netaji (Mulayam), who has a long history of public service and struggle, can only come from an 'adh-kachra' politician,' Chowdhary said in a statement.

"Politics has stooped so low that anyone can call a senior leader names," he said.

Criticising Kejriwal for his brand of anarchic politics, the Samajwadi Party spokesman said the AAP leader has made no contribution to Indian politics and was making such statements to further his individual ambitions.

Stating that a sting operation before the Delhi assembly elections exposed the AAP candidates, Chowdhary said Kejriwal was involved in forging accounts and illegally taking foreign funds during his NGO days.
