Speaker visits Mar Alencherry

KOCHI: Speaker G Karthikeyan visited Syro-Malabar Church Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry on Tuesday to congratulate him on his elevation as Cardinal. Karthikeyan presented the book ‘Ekam Sath’ to Mar Alencherry at Mount St Thomas, Kakkanad. The Major Archbishop showed Karthikeyan a felicitation letter sent by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. He told Karthikeyan that he wore a rudraksha chain symbolising Indian society. After the visit, the Speaker said that Alencherry’s elevation as Cardinal was a recognition not only to the Christians  but to the entire society.
