New Delhi: Facing passenger's anger after several of its flights were cancelled over non-payment of fuel dues, SpiceJet Chief Operating Officer Sanjiv Kapoor has said that the flights will resume operations by Wednesday evening.
"Flights scheduled to depart on or after 4 PM today will operate. We apologise again for the disruptions," the COO tweeted.
Thousands of passengers were stranded as the cash beleagured airline cancelled many of its flights on Wednesday morning. 10 SpiceJet passengers have also filed a complaint against the airline in New Delhi.
SpiceJet operations were grounded for the second day on Wednesday after oil companies stopped their fuel supply over non-payment and said that they will only supply fuel if immediate cash is paid.
The government came forward to offer the debt-ridden airline a lifeline. The government had asked banks to lend Rs 600 crore to allow the airline to continue its operations. But the government had added that the loan should be paid immediately after securing a long term investment which will take around eight weeks.
The Civil Aviation Ministry had said that it will also request the Finance Ministry to permit external commercial borrowing for working capital as special dispensation.
