BARIPADA: Nearly 120 people, including women and children, were taken ill on Friday in Dantiamuha village, about 20 km from Baripada, after consuming stale ‘prasad’. They have been admitted to hospitals at Kishantandi and Betnoti.Sources said the villagers had consumed the ‘prasad’ (mixture of flattened rice, banana, cucumber and sugar) on Thursday evening and complained of vomiting, stomach pain and nausea the following morning.Two medical teams led by Ramesh Verma rushed to Kishantandi PHC and Betnoti CHC where the diarrhoea affected were undergoing treatment. Verma said 32 patients have been shifted to district headquarters hospital after their condition deteriorated.The others admitted to Kishantandi and Betnoti health care centres are out of danger. “The situation is under control. We have provided ORS packets and medicines in the village. A sample of the prasad has been collected and sent for test,” the doctor said.
