Lucknow: Suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dayashankar Singh on Tuesday has filed a petition in High Court seeking stay on his arrest.

The hearing on the same will take place on July 28.

On Monday, a Lucknow court has issued a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Dayashankar for making objectionable remarks about Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati.

Singh was suspended from BJP recently after he criticised Mayawati's ticket distribution system and compared her to a sex worker.

BSP members had then filed a case against Singh, who has been missing since the incident last week.

Singh's wife Swati had alleged that BSP members were harassing her and her 12-year-old daughter after the incident. She also filed an FIR against the BSP chief for mental trauma.
