Centre puts onus on Mehbooba Mufti to control situation in Jammu and Kashmir as Home Minister Rajnath Singh asks Chief Minister Mufti to take concrete steps to control the law and order situation in the valley. Calling law and order a state subject ,Centre asked the State government to take the lead in restoring rule of law in Jammu and Kashmir.
Centres appeals to the Jammu and Kashmir government to control all the elements that advocate violence further stating how loudspeakers and mobile phones are being misused for gathering crowd of stone pelters and egging them on to spread violence.
Waheed Para of PDP talked to CNN-News18 and responded saying that the Chief Minister has been at her toes as far as the law and order is concerned and has not blamed the Centre even once. He said "Law and order is a state subject and we are capable of handling it. J&K Police is doing their best to handle the situation."
Junaid Azim Mattu of National Conference dismissed Para's comments saying that "The Centre has put the onus on the state and Mufti must claim the onus if she says she is the be all and end all of the political process."
Mehbooba Mufti will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday and is expected to discuss with him the deteriorating situation in the valley. Kashmir has entered 50th day of its curfew and with more paramilitary forces from Indo Tibetan Border Police being rushed in, normalcy is still a far cry.
