Hyderabad: Telangana continues to reel under the menace of swine flu with 49 fresh cases being reported, a bulletin issued on Tuesday said. "In the current year, from January 1 till February 9, 2,677 samples have been tested, out of which, 880 were found to be positive and the number of deaths because of other complications and swine flu are 42. On February 9th, 135 samples were tested. Out of that 49 are found positive," the bulletin said.
There is a decline in intensity in the number of positive cases reported in the last six days (up to February 9). "The figures are 32, 20, 30, 30, 33 and 49," it said. However, the citizens are advised to take precautions and report to a hospital on appearance of the first symptoms of the disease like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pain," it said.
Sufficient stock of medicines is available at all teaching hospitals, district hospitals and area hospitals, the bulletin said, adding, there are enough testing kits and kits for Viral Transport Medium (VTM). Homoeopathy doctors have advised that homeo medicine can also be taken as a preventive measure. Medicines are available free of cost at Government Homeo Hospital, Ramanthapur in the city and all AYUSH dispensaries.
