A joint district-level chess selection competition will be organised on September 1 under the aegis of the Warangal District Chess Association in collaboration with the Telangana State Chess Association. According to Kanna, the executive secretary of the chess association, these competitions will be held on September 1 at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Kalyana Mandapam opposite the Public Garden in Hanumakonda. It is said that these competitions will be conducted for boys and girls below 11 years of age.
Those born on or after 1-1-2013 can participate in this competition. Four boys and girls who win will be selected for the state championships. These players will participate in the state-level chess competition to be held in Hyderabad in September. But he said that all the boys and girls who participated in these competitions will be given certificates of appreciation and medals.

Besides, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mansukh L Mandaviya to provide Telangana with the opportunity to host national and international sporting events, including the Olympics, in future. Revanth Reddy, along with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister for Tourism and Excise Jupally Krishna Rao, met Mansukh L Mandaviya in New Delhi on Friday evening.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy stressed that Telangana has all the necessary infrastructure to host such events. He highlighted the achievements of athletes from Telangana who have won medals in various international competitions, including the Olympics, and stressed the state government’s commitment to providing world-class facilities to the athletes to enable them to compete on the global stage.
