The buck stops hair: Ishant Sharma's a style icon too
He is devastating with the ball, but his locks make him a trendsetter.

New Delhi: Forget the Man of the Series award he got, the 15 wickets against the Aussies, or that staggering sum the Kolkata Knight Riders paid him last year, for Ishant Sharma has now arrived as a style icon.

He has been devastating with the ball, but the gangly Delhiite is equally, if not more, famous for his mane.

“I think all the fielders and all the senior players supported me quite well. That is why I am bowling quite well in the series,” the strapping fast bowler said after winning the Man of the Series award in the Border-Gavaskar series.

All of 20, Ishant Sharma has captured the imagination of the cricketing world.

“With that kind of a head on his shoulders and his feet firmly on the ground, this kid is going to take a bagful of wickets for India,” Sunil Gavaskar says.

“I already expect him to be right up there with some of the best fast bowlers in world cricket within the next 5-10 years. The potential at the moment is very, very exciting,” Sir Richard Hadlee says.

Ishant is also a hit with the youth for his rock star looks.

While some say that his long hair looks great when he charges across the pitch, others, inspired by long locks, say that they’ve tried growing their hair long too.

But what’s the secret to Ishant's bold, new tresses?

Ahmed Habib, is the only man the quickie will trust with the scissors — and for good reason. Habib has given a lot of thought to Ishant's new cut.

“He’s got soft fair and angular features and when he bowls, his curls bounce,” Habib says.

With one winning performance after another and a great hair style to match, it's not hair today gone tomorrow for this Delhi boy is here to stay.
