CHENNAI: Police have arrested three persons at Peravalur on Friday for cheating a coconut vendor of Rs 5.4 lakh and are on the look out for their absconding associate. A car, Rs 1.46 lakh in cash and a toy gun were seized from them.Police arrested Sankar Ganesh (43) of Madhavaram, who ran a finance company at Peravalur that gave mortgage loans. Giridharan (42) of Perumbur and his friend Arumugam (23) were associates of Sankar Ganesh.A coconut vendor Nagalingam (32) of Ambur, near Vellore, had approached Giridharan, who put him across to Sankar Ganesh for a loan of Rs 20 lakh. When Nagalingam sought an additional loan of Rs 30 lakh, he was forced to pay Rs 5.4 lakh as advance and also allegedly pledged the documents of his property with them. Despite all this, Nagalingam was not given the promised loan amount and he lodged a complaint with the police.A special police team was formed and the three men were arrested. Enquiries revealed that they were associates of fraudster Adikesavan, who was arrested a few years back for swindling many crores.
