BANGALORE: The CCB sleuths arrested three persons, who allegedly circulated counterfeit currencies, and recovered fake notes worth Rs 22 lakh of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination. Investigations showed that the fake notes were printed in Pakistan and Bangladesh and circulated here to disturb the financial system.The accused were identified as Bisrath Sheikh, Saddam Hussain (20), both from Malda district of West Bengal, and Venkatesh (37) hailing from Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu. The police have leads about involvement of a few others and a manhunt has been launched to nab them.According to the police, Venkatesh was nabbed in the city while the two others were arrested in West Bengal. On interrogation, they revealed that the notes were printed in Pakistan and Bangladesh and then smuggled through the borders in Malda district. “They paid Rs 40,000 in original currencies to get Rs 1 lakh fake notes. They also revealed that they have circulated a few lakh fake currencies across the country,” the police added.A case has been registered against the accused in High Grounds police station.
