CHENNAI: The earnest endeavour of a father to trace his four-year-old son, who went missing from his home in Gummidipoondi on April 21, by pasting posters himself at various railway stations between his town and Chennai Central yielded quick results, leading to a happy family reunion on Tuesday.Dilip, who came from Odisha about 15 years ago and now ekes out a living as a labour contractor in Gummidipoondi, was dejected when the local police failed to take steps to find his missing son, who was disappearing in the same fashion for the second time. So, Dilip took a printout in A-4 size paper with a photograph of the boy, Akash alias Bablu, with his telephone number emblazoned on it. After making about 400 copies of it, he boarded the train to Chennai Central, stopping at every station en route. Before he returned home, he got a call from Nagaraj, a building contractor and Ponneri town MGR Youth Wing secretary, who has been taking care of the child since he spotted him at Ponneri station a few days ago.Since Nagaraj’s efforts with the police and railway authorities to track the boy’s parents failed, he embarked on the journey with Akash to Gummidipoondi on Tuesday when he saw the poster and called Dilip.Only after meeting Dilip, Nagaraj knew that Akash’s parents were from Odisha as the boy spoke fluent Tamil.Earlier, when this reporter met Dilip at the Central railway station, he was confident of finding his son, who went missing seven months back when he had boarded a train to Basin Bridge in Chennai.
