BANGALORE: South Zone Motor Transporters’ Welfare Association, which is on strike from the past six days, plans to stop supply of auto gas from Tuesday midnight. The Association is also plans  to stop transport of diesel and petrol from January 23 if their demands were not considered.Addressing media persons on Tuesday, G R Shanmugappa, general secretary of Association said, “Since we did not want to trouble people we waited for positive reply from the authorities concerned. As there is no response, we will go on strike by stopping auto gas supply from midnight. Oil companies are diverting the issue and saying that LPG will be supplied by train, which is not easy. Is it possible for railways to transport that much of gas?” he questioned. He said they have already informed officials that nearly five hundred tankers will be off the road. “It is inevitable for us to tread the path of agitation as we had postponed our stir many times following a request from the authorities. But now we are not ready to buy any promises,” he stated.Shaikh Ahmed,  president of  Bangalore Auto Rickshaw Drivers and Dealers Association, opined it will create a big problem to auto drivers and their livelihood. About 80,000 autorickshaws ply in the city and non-availability of auto gas means causing hardship to citizens.
