WARANGAL: Former DSP Nalini has said that she was contesting Parkal bypolls following requests by Telangana sympathisers. Nalini had resigned from her job for the cause of Telangana. Speaking to mediapersons at her residence after knowing that her nomination was accepted on Sunday, Nalini said that the TRS, which claims to be carrying forward the Telangana agitation, does not like her to be in the bypoll contest. She alleged that TRS leaders tried to get her nomination rejected. In the past, they tried to see that my resignation was not accepted, she said. “The government also rejected my resignation but I got it approved by approaching the tribunal, she recalled. The former DSP said that TRS was more dangerous than the Seemandhra parties. She criticised the TRS for achieving nothing in the name of agitation during the last 11 years. There has been no progress in the situation since Union minister Chidambaram’s Dec 9 statement, she pointed out. The agitation for separate Telangana, she said, lost its goal after the TRS failed to take proper decisions at correct time. She said that she had staged hunger strike for the cause of Telangana and that she toured all districts in the region. Stating that Telangana sympathisers and women were supporting her, Nalini exuded confidence of winning the bypolls and carrying on the agitation.
